More fear than harm for the woman to  Jay-Z who saw his crew stop the unit immediately to release the star hair caught in the blades.

Work until the end of the hair, Beyonce even continued to sing throughout the incident, while its technicians tried to free her hair from the device.

Interview with the programmer of the Quebec Summer Festival

We enjoyed our visit to the Summer Festival of Quebec to meet its scheduler exposes us the constraints of his job and gives us the list of artists he would one day receive. Interview with Louis Bellavance, a man incredibly calm for someone who is coming every year more than 200 artists in Quebec City!
>> Read the account of our three days in Quebec City Summer Festival
The FEQ is almost unknown in France compared to other festivals of the North American continent. Where do you place yourself?
It compares with the best. It invests in programming comparable to events like Coachella, Bonnaroo, and the Osheaga Festival Montreal Jazz level. Our formula, in its specificity to be public and to be spread over 11 days, is rather unique. The Jazz Festival is like a little, his prog is more eclectic but is a less commercial than the FEQ sector. We can go from very mainstream to the underground.
What are the main constraints of this kind of big event?
Budget, mainly. I have a fixed envelope on which I have no extension if necessary. We begin our year with this number we will divide by scene. Finally, this envelope is not so compelling as that, because we have a very good budget, which is $ 8 million (Canadian). To my knowledge, this is the biggest budget programming in Canada.Jazz in Montreal is such a lot more concerts, but has a lower envelope. Us, not spend a lot of money to bring in big stars. Stevie Wonder , it's very expensive course!
The other constraint is to make our grid concerts. In general, it is compared to the observations of past editions. In 2013, we wanted to do a little more rock, back to electronics. To meet  LMFAO had worked well in 2012, this year it was Bruno MarsWe really believe in equality and the fact that each of the scenes. On the Parc de la Francophonie, we had great success with the French artists of the time, we continue on this path. This year we will try electronics. We had of course already programmed electro artists, but never proposed thematic evenings. There, for us it was quite an experience to offer exclusively electronic platforms.
And finally the real constraint is that all these thematic scenes should not compete. We try to guide our festival in their decisions by providing them with trays musical styles. If we do hip hop on the Bell Stage, must be the same evening offers folk scene, punk rock and reggae in the face. Normally the choices are a little easier, but the big music lovers will always torn can not see everything.
How do you manage to find so many artists?
I'm not bad on the road. I'm in France at least twice a year in Los Angeles once or twice, New York three to four times. There are plenty of business to do. I attend music festivals in the world, at SXSW in Texas. With Arnaud Cordier (other programmer of the festival), we divided the events, he went to Printemps de Bourges me Transmusicales Rennes.
What are the genres that work well FEQ?
Quebec City is a rock and heavy rock, it's not a cliché, it is a fact: Rammstein ,Metallica , Bon Jovi . Quebec also has a history with the progressive rock. For years, groups like Marillion ,  Yes or Rush came here. If we could have Genesisone day, that would be great.
What the public wants artists?
There are AC / DC . They never came to Quebec in fact. They made a date to Montreal's Olympic Stadium. I think it would be the largest group we could do here.I'm not even sure how to invite them, then we reach a certain level in terms of budget.  Roger Waters in 2012 and  Paul McCartney in 2013, they were made out festival. It leaves a few days after the FEQ, we keep the installation and return to traditional ticketing. If we integrate this kind of artists in the festival program itself, it would cut 30% of the production budget and I would be hard pressed to maintain a balance between the different scenes. In theory, you can do it and it was even already two years ago with Metallica and Elton John were part of the festival. Finally it was a little late, it was against the spirit of the event. What bothers me is that people have spoken of the Metallica concert, I asked why they had bothered to get 10 more nights.
In fact, I want the audience to have a general impression of the festival and they do not remember only one concert. This year the program was fairly balanced, there were several moments and I want to give the impression that they goers are taken from the music, full mouth for 11 eleven days.
As a programmer, you necessarily artists you would like to come at any price?
Yes, of course. In fact there are two aspects to this question actually. I am often asked my 'wishlist emotional "but unfortunately it does not work like that. I'm a big fan 'of Emmylou Harris , which is for me the greatest voice of folk and music history. With good timing you could make an evening a little "country" on the stage of Parc de la Francophonie. I'm also a big fan of Dylan , but I would not suggest him to come play FEQ because I do not have any spaces that suit him. There are the big stage of the Plains of Abraham, but the public might be disappointed and I can not think that me and my artists shots heart. If I had a beautiful interior room, I would immediately!Otherwise, yes, there are great artists who have not yet come and that in our table of hunting, they will come at some point, you just wait.
Have you experienced setbacks this year?
We had a cancellation the day we announced the program. We filled this void with Guns n 'Roses have confirmed their coming very late. They do not even appear on the programs we had printed. Everyone told us we had made a bold choice.
What are the memorable moments of FEQ since you are working on?
Last year  Skrillex was amazing. We knew inviting that it would be impressive, but we did not think the public see delirious at this point. And it was a personality trait of my audience that I discovered it was crazy.
The concert of Jean Leloup last year. The spectators did not expect because it was a bit bad reputation in Quebec, like the one behind the Guns n 'Roses this year. The people were quite skeptical, Leloup finally came on stage and gave his concert, the best I've seen him. And this year, I can mention The Joy Formidable for example.
Are you faced with criticism?
Consistently. It is so diverse that all maniacs of one kind or another are dissatisfied.Rock fans do not have enough. We had an evening with very heavy metal represented by Voivod and the Franco Avantasia Park, but that's all. But this is not enough for fans who want Metal on the Plains of Abraham, something like  Black Sabbath and much harder than the Black Keys . Last year I had no hip-hop important, it is this year, we have scheduled. I have no country, yet there is a request and I would like to make a point, but I need to find the correct size. It is quite critical, I try not to go on blogs but when I go I see some users demand my resignation. This is intense!
I find these reactions ultimately quite normal for this kind of event. We must understand that Quebec City is not on the major circuit of North American concerts. It has 5-stage lives per year. Most artists come either at the festival, or they do not come at all in Quebec. This event is very important for the city and for the community that really appropriate. If we're successful, it's partly because people are deprived of concerts the rest of the year.
It also makes disappointed among indie rock fans, but if you look at the entire program was the indie rock and much more than adequate to ensure the balance of FEQ. It is sure that a true fan will recognize more in the programming Osheaga (Montreal to early August) but the FEQ is a different festival, should my mother or my niece could go!

Bertrand Cantat back in November with a solo album

Bertrand Cantat  has been so quiet the past few months we had forgotten his possible return in music, announced the signature with the Barclay label and culminated in the release of an album planned for the month of November, according to the AFP.
There is a little over a year and a half, we learned that the singer Black Desire , sentenced for the murder of his girlfriend, Marie Trintignant , had signed a contract with Barclay / Universal. Since its release in 2007, the man has a low profile, do not fail to raise controversy and criticism during his few public appearances (on stage alongside 's Eiffel in 2010, in particular). A disk group Black Desire was even in the pipes, but the project that gave birth to two new tracks ( "Winners / Losers"and "The Time of Cherries" ) has not been finally led to the end and advanced training to dissolve in November 2010.
Despite these setbacks and backlash raised his every move, Cantat has appeared on the discs of the following artists: Souleymane Diamanka , Eiffel,  Shaka Ponkand Amadou and Mariam . After this return to music through collaborations Bordeaux tackled writing solo album, which will be the first of his career as a musician and one of the most anticipated in September. This is actually in November Barclay, told AFP, would publish it. For the moment, it is also little information on this project, if one believes Southwest Cantat who interviewed there over a year, the musician has surrounded recent months, Pascal Humbert, a friend and contributor to several groups ( 16 Horsepower , Passion Fodder, Woven Hand).

Mazzy Star announces his return for September 2013

It was the perfect pair of psychedelic rock and '80s pop / 90. Together, David Roback (ex-Opal, ex-Rain Parade) and Hope Sandoval Mazzy Star embodied with a rock classicism whose evocative power knew beyond its roots. Pushing the envelope a little further, they even be accused of "dream pop pioneers" (think Beach House, think Au Revoir Simone). Simply put, Mazzy Star was unique, leaving us orphans after three albums as beautiful qu'incontournables. But surprisingly, they are well and truly back with their next album Seasons of Your Day, scheduled for Mazzy Star September 24.

Maybe a little early to dream pop, but in any case everything came together to make a dream team. Beauty and the beast. The velvety voice of rapper beautiful to the eyes of deer aboies accompanied by agreements sometimes plaintive, sometimes hypnotic and stretched a taciturn guitarist, back, folded on itself. All serving sets to love stories lost in the desert, defeats and follies. The soundtrack disillusioned already, a time that is no more. The late 80s and early 90s. Those who at the time were sheltered from the sun in the shade of Darkland of Jesus & Mary Chain , and swore by the Velvet Underground , Yo La Tengo , the twang and noisy pop of Creation Records, languid saturations Ride or the first complaints of Will Oldham with or without Palace Music or sad songs Song Ohia, could only fall under the charm of the first two albums of Mazzy Star , psychedelic rock (and pop) She Hangs Brightly (1990), and the feverish So Tonight That I Might See(1993).
A delicate balance
But already in 1993, things were not easy between the "young" Hope and reclusive Roback. The couple, ambiguous, kept in their report-scarce-statements, their duo lived the same electrical jolts that evoked both interested in their tracks. Fusion between love ("Fade Into You", "Umbilical"), supplications ("Be My Baby", "Five String Serenade"), ruptures ("Disappear", "Cry Cry") and dislocations ("Into Dust", " Ghost in The Highway, "" Still Cold "," Mary Of Silence "), the couple breaks up and finds himself, threatening the delicate balance that makes Mazzy Star black star of the U.S. pop and rock these years there. Three years of silence will eventually lead to the release-really expected, although a late-third album, Among My Swan . More inclined to make concessions as more mainstream, Among My Swan would obviously have a less melancholy more smiling face. It should be recalled that in 1996, times are tough for those who play the six strings, the time is techno, and the success of the Chemical Brothers also allow them to "borrow" Hope Sandoval in his dark time to mentor a "Asleep From Day" which will delight Air France for its advertising. In fact, apart from the real lover of rock and psychedelic pop, the album will go relatively unnoticed and mark the decline of the duo.
Years "without"
Mazzy Star is actually never really split. The duo simply abandons chips stage and - on - success that was theirs for a simpler life. A mysterious life, because, as you never really knew if Roback and Sandoval dark brown were "together", no one knows either what was their existence during these lean years. And besides, what's the point? The group gradually became an object of worship, in the shadows, developing its roots elsewhere in the fertile anonymity steeped in culture underground rock soil. While David Roback is ready to play in production, Hope Sandoval flew to Scotland where she lends her voice on the last album - listenable - the Reid brothers of Jesus & Mary Chain ("Sometimes Always" on the aptly namedStoned & Dethroned published in 1994). Then radio silence. Both disappear shady waves.
Return through the back door
In 2004, David Roback has notified the company of the Hong Kongaise actressMaggie Cheung on the soundtrack to the beautiful Clean 's Olivier Assayas .For its part, Miss Sandoval formed his new band, The Warm Inventions, who gets the recipe for Mazzy Star, the hypnotic power and electric shock of Mr. Roback less. The fans are content, others listen to (maybe) but the album will move quickly to something else. Yet Hope Sandoval & The Warm Intentions released two beautiful albums, Bavarian Fruit Breaden  (2009) and Through The Devil Softly (2011). More appeased the previous Mazzy Star, Among My Swan , both laid back discs are worn by the inimitable voice of rock diva, but lack of grip to really like it.

Then suddenly it's back, the truth, or at least that's what we imagine listening to "Common Burn" / "Lay Myself Down", a single that appears magically in the fall of 2011 . Discreet, the couple announced that the object will be findable at digital format, but the subject was finally released through the label Rhymes Of An Hour Records, self-produced and named after one of the eponymous title of the last disc duo. And then there is silence again, after a brief media excitement and a few puffs of hope.
But it is now official for a few days: the king duo that formed the square roots of the current dream pop, fruit of the equation saturated fuzz guitar arpeggios x + monotone voice and melody rustic smoky, returns on September 24 with Seasons Of Your Day , a fourth album in the black as ink and adorned with the heraldic figure of a cat, also black pouch. So bent, the two black cats pop and psychedelic rock of the 90's will be in stores soon, and to approve the announcement effect, we offer "California", the first single absolutely brilliant, as announced an "air designed for lovers and broken hearts." Fans will find agreements both rights in their boots and whirling, the emphasis contained, the melodic simplicity responsible for authenticity and sensuality, and arrangements (organ in the background, interwoven harmonies, subtle percussion) that make this duo unique in the current rock landscape. The album, produced in California and Norway by Hope Sandoval and David Roback themselves, benefit from the presence of Colm O'Ciosoig (drummer of My Bloody Valentine ). It will be released on CD, 180g double vinyl and digital on their own label Rhymes Of An Hour Records format and will be distributed by INgrooves.
Conclude by quoting a speaker who stated on YouTube recently, listening to their new single " . They could not have picked a better time in our culture to them-much needed return we would appreciate a little more authenticity in today's musical landscape. Where everything is so smug and artificial .... it's just pure and authentic. " Says it all!

Stromae reveals a superb clip for her new single Papaoutai

Stromae  preparing the release of his second album, scheduled for September, with the launch of the video for her new singlePapaoutai .

Stromae kicked off the promotion of his new and second album, expected in the coming year, with the posting of a video shot with a hidden camera in which he appeared drunk on the streets of Brussels, to illustrate one of his new songs (breaking) called Formidable .
Five million views a week later, the Belgian artist chained with the delivery of a new video neater, the opposite of the previous "homemade" to accompany this time the title Papaoutai (hereinafter above). We discover Paul Van Haver, his real name, in the role of an absent, to the chagrin of his son condemned to play alone or with a particular model, in contrast to all its neighbors father who seem to have pleasure in the singer father figure. All in one inspired by the 60s and 70s, and dotted with excellent choreography universe.

Stromae is noted for his writing skills and composition in his early exits in the Belgian hip hop scene in the early 2000s, and quickly led him to work with big names like Kery James or Anggun . In late 2009, he released his now famous single Alors on danse , which propels under the spotlight in many European countries, leading in particular to be nominated at the MTV Europe Music Awards, the Prix Constantin or the Globes de Cristal, and Finally sacred to  Victoires de la Musique in 2011 with his first album Cheese .
